Landscape work from the Tongariro Alpine Crossing — dawn on the trail, the volcanic cone under a lenticular cloud, steaming vents, and the Emerald Lakes seen from the ridge.

The shoot

No brief and no concept. I carried the camera across the crossing and shot what the day gave me. The interest is in the landscape itself: the volcanic range, the lakes, and the light across a long walk.
