Consumerism Kills

This photography campaign explores the profound negative effects that consumerism is having on modern society. Conceived as a series of extreme, emotionally charged images, the project visualises the mental and contextual human suffering caused by our current age of consumption. While each image stands alone, when viewed together as a collated grid, the final compositions strongly reveal a deeper narrative about these societal impacts.

The shoot

A university awareness campaign about the world consumerism has built. Each image works on its own as a single symptom: drowning in it, suffocating in it, blinded by it. Read together in a gallery or a social feed, they build a wider argument about what constant consumption is doing to us. Advertising is a polished way of saying buy now, you need this, and the waste it leaves behind is what the series is actually looking at.
